Books.....Books.....Books.....

Did you know that BFCS Gilbert Campus has over 3000 books available for students to check out?

A little history.....When BFCS was in its infancy, FPAC formed a committee and began creating a library.  The vast majority of the books were purchased by FPAC, though some were donated by BFCS families.  Originally, a card check-out system was used and eventually FPAC was able to purchase a computer and library software and organize the books using an electronic barcode system.  It was a huge undertaking and FPAC volunteers spent many hours organizing and maintaining the library over the years.  Gilbert is the only BFCS campus to have had a dedicated library.

At our previous Gilbert location, FPAC had a dedicated library space in the multi-purpose room where classes were able to visit once a week to check out books.  Unfortunately, we don't have such a space at our new campus, so FPAC donated the complete library to the school.  The administration distributed the books to the classrooms where they are still available for student use.  All BFCS campuses have classroom libraries.

FPAC continues to support the classroom libraries by providing funds to purchase new books, and by reviewing and approving all books before they are made available to students.

Currently, FPAC has several HUNDRED books waiting for approval.  Each book must be reviewed by at least two parents before it can be approved, so it's going to take some time.... and we need your help!

Please consider reading and reviewing books so that our students can have access to them in the classroom.  If you would like to help with this project, please contact Alice DeWitt.... alicedewitt@gmail.com, or 480-818-3738.

Since these books are intended for K-6th grades they are generally not difficult and usually can be read fairly quickly by parents.

If everyone does a little then no one has to do a lot!

Thank you.
